Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey (R-2) filed SB0256 which would require the TBI to conduct background investigations for persons appointed by the speaker of the senate or the speaker of the house. Currently only the governor and chief justice are permitted to request such background checks on candidates for the following positions:
(1) Attorney general and reporter;
(2) Clerk of the supreme court (appellate court clerk);
(3) Administrative director of the courts;
(4) Executive director, Tennessee lawyers’ assistance program;
(5) Chief disciplinary counsel, board of professional responsibility;
(6) Executive director, Tennessee commission on continuing legal education and specialization; and
(7) Executive director, Tennessee lawyers’ fund for client protection.

The government is taking too much power for itself. We are losing our freedoms as the government becomes more and more controlling and invasive in our lives.
Those in control of our government and media wish to micro manage our lives, its not about freedom any longer because the only freedom we have is to live like they want us to live.
Of course those appointed to government should be law abiding citizens, but the criteria for being in government today doesn’t have anything to do with traditional Anglo Saxon morals and values.
Today those in government have more loyalty to Israel than they do to the United States so what good are background checks if you don’t have the right values in the first place.
Why doesn’t any one in government pass laws against the Federal Reserve? If Tennessee printed our own money and got rid of the Fed that would show that our leaders have integrity.
Passing a background check based upon the requirements for being in government today means nothing to me.
Banks are allowed to rip us off, illegals have more rights than real Americans, we’re waging a holocaust against people in the middle east who never did anything to us and who can’t defend themselves from us — these are your values and you want to run background checks? You’re kidding right?
My previous comment is awaiting moderation. I am a citizen but if my comment is not in line with the news speak crowd that forces pc upon us and that is perched at every online forum to guard against true freedom, then my opinion is not allowed.
Where are the bills against illegal aliens? Where are the laws nullifying what the anti American, anti Christian moneybags who control our federal government are doing to us?
