Sen. Stacey Campfield (R-7) filed SB0129 which would, 1) allow political parties with membership of at least 1% of the total number of votes in the last gubernatorial election to appear on the ballot, and 2) require voters to register as members of a political party to vote in primary elections. There were 1,601,660 votes in the 2010 gubernatorial election, making the current minimum for a political party to appear on the ballot 16,016 members.
